About Venezuela Reporta
Venezuela Reporta is a free, community-run registry to report and find people affected by the earthquake in Venezuela — built for mobile phones, slow connections, and easy sharing over WhatsApp, inside and outside the country.
An independent, non-political civic effort
Venezuela Reporta is an independent effort by civil society. It is not funded by, affiliated with, or directed by any political party, government, or political organization. It was created by volunteers to help families affected by the earthquake locate their loved ones.
The project is community-run and non-profit. There is no company behind it and it does not collect money for itself. Entries are submitted by the public and are unverified.
How it works
- 1
Report. Report a missing person, mark someone as safe, or report that you saw or found someone. Only a name and city are required.
- 2
Search & consolidate. We bring together entries from sister platforms and hospital admission lists, and consolidate them into one person per name/ID so families don’t have to check ten places.
- 3
Verify. Hospitals, clinics and official contacts can confirm a person’s status through a private verification portal. Deceased information is never published.
- 4
Share. Share an individual entry or the whole registry over WhatsApp so the information reaches more people.
Safety & privacy
- All entries are clearly marked unverified.
- There is no “deceased” status on the public site — that belongs to the authorities and families.
- We collect the minimum: only name and city are required; contact details are optional and shown only with consent.
- Photos of minors are always blurred on public pages and identifying details are minimized.
